The Internet is like a highway (not a series of tubes)

The highway analogy I used in my post earlier this week on our 40 Gig news created a little conversation inside Nortel.  Al Lounsbury in Nortel’s optical marketing team took a look at what I posted and had a small correction for me.  He said that for our 40 Gig solution “it’s not putting four people in the same car, since that would imply that traffic must follow the same car/container - which is not true.  A better analogy is we found a way to allow four different cars to occupy the same space.”

He continued by taking the highway analogy a bit further to more completely explain the solution, and I thought you’d find it interesting as well:
