Mobile handset torture

If you’re like me and you cringe every time you drop your mobile phone, you’ll love this video.  Our friends over at Sprectralink have been testing out the durability of their Netlink 8000 series Wi-Fi enabled phones.  This is, by the way, the same hardware that Nortel uses for our WLAN Handset 6100 series phones…we take the Spectralink hardware and put Nortel software/firmware on them.

There are standard ”drop specs” for testing out the durability of mobile phones.  Of course, just dropping a phone on concrete from four feet high wasn’t enough for these guys.  They found quite a few inventive ways to test the true ruggedness of the phone.

CTIA: What is 4G?

Nortel’s new unofficial movie producer Miranda MacDonald compiled a video straight from the show floor at CTIA Wireless 2008 on Thursday.  After a short intro of still shots from the show, Miranda asks various Nortel employees on the booth “What is 4G?”

As it is with all good films, the ending makes the movie.
