Nortel has quietly been involved this week in the continuing progress of PBT. As you may know, Nortel has been the lead technology developer for Provider Backbone Transport, or PBT, and primary driver of getting PBT adopted as an industry standard for using carrier-class Ethernet across metro transport networks.
The news this week comes from the Carrier Ethernet Ecosystem that Nortel formed last summer.
On Monday Spirent announced that it’s Spirent TestCenter became the first ecosystem product to be awarded with a certification of compatibility from the Nortel led Carrier Ethernet Ecosystem Compatible Product Certification program. TestCenter is a testing platform used to evaluate network conditions for LAN, enterprise, metro, carrier and broadband access network devices.
