Mike Z talks green

I bet you thought I’d forgotten.  I started off today with just another post that didn’t have a single mention of it.  Heck, we got all the way to the eve of the big day without even a hint of it.

Mike Z on CNBC Nortel CEO Mike Zafirovski talks green on CNBC “It” - of course - is Earth Day.  If there ever was an example of how a grass roots social campaign can change corporate thinking, Earth Day is it.

These days, everyone is going green.  It’s the morally (and politically) correct thing to do.  But what more and more people and companies are realizing is that it’s the business savvy thing to do as well.  Environmental awareness is now a top purchase criteria for many consumer products.  On the business side, the skyrocketing cost of energy means that for the first time, CIOs are asking about things like watts and BTUs.

This morning, Nortel CEO Mike Z was on CNBC talking about Nortel’s Green IT efforts.  You can see the video here

This week Mike Z and Nortel are participating in the Fortune Brainstorm Green conference in Pasadena, CA.  I’ll have some updates from that event this week, and tomorrow I’ll be talking to one of Nortel’s execs in charge of our Green IT efforts.

In the mean time, if you have any green questions for us, let me know.
