Since yesterday's Nortel news, I've spend at ton of time on two things -- listening and reading. Like many of my fellow employees, I've been sitting in on several employee conference calls yesterday and today to hear directly from our leaders. And like many of you, I've been reading all the coverage from the media about our news.
If you're like me, all the articles have started running together that are covering the main news points: our revenue drop, our layoffs, economic conditions and cost cutting. These are obviously very important topics -- and you can read about them in articles from AP, the Ottawa Citizen, CNET, etc -- but today I found myself looking for coverage that provided a little more in-depth analysis and commentary that provided some differentiation for the typical straight coverage.
So here's my attempt at collecting a few articles that seem to fit that mold:
- David Green on his ZDNet blog and Eric Krapf on No Jitter both ponder what the new business structure means for Nortel's prospects in the enterprise space.
- Multiple articles included quotes and opinions from industry analysts, including articles from the Globe & Mail, All About Nortel and this podcast from Telephony Online.
- The WSJ Business Technology blog had a quick profile of the execs leaving Nortel. Telephony Online also has this article on the executive shake-up.
- Several articles focus more specifically on CTO John Roese's departure, including Jim Duffy on Network World. [Updated: here's another feature article on John Roese from the Ottawa Citizen]
- Other pieces of commentary include articles from FierceVoIP, Network World's blogs, CNET blogs, and Nortel's Tony Rybczynski on his blog.
